Health Benefits

Health insurance coverage is provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, which offers three plans to choose from - Blue Care HMO 60, Blue Care HMO 54 and Blue Option PPO Plan 05770. Blue Cross Blue Shield also offers Teledoc (English(Spanish), Prescription Mail-In program (English(Spanish) and Vision, Hearing and Massage Therapy discount program via Blue Complements. Plan  comparisons Summary of Benefits and Coverage Blue Care HMO 60, Blue Care HMO 54 and Blue Options PPO Plan 05770.

Florida Blue also has a digital enrollment tool (English) (Spanish) that is able to provide benefit comparisons, in-nework providers, compare medical costs, provide video clips on money saving tips and helpful resources regarding your health insurance plan. 

Effective Date: Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance benefits will be effective on the first of the month following a sixty (60) day waiting period.

Board Contribution: The Hernando County School Board contributes up to $682.04 a month towards the health insurance premium for each employee. This contribution is already reflected in the amounts provided below.

Life Benefits

Life insurance coverage is provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida and UsAble Life. If you choose to elect health insurance, you are entitled to a $10,000.00 life insurance policy. If you do not choose health insurance, you are entitled to a $30,000.00 life insurance policy. You may also elect dependent life insurance for your spouse and/or eligible dependents at your expense of $1.13 per paycheck. If elected, your spouse will be covered for $5,000 and your eligible dependents are covered for $2,500 each provided they are 6 months to 25 years of age. Dental Benefits

Dental Insurance is provided by Florida Combined Life Insurance, an Independent Licensee of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. There are two plans to choose from ... Blue Dental Choice PPO Copay and Blue Dental Choice PPO. Plan comparisons

Vision Benefits

Vision insurance is provided via Humana, which offers coverage for routine eye exams,  including lenses, frames or contacts. Vision Booklet

Employee Assistance

Behavioral health services are available to all permanent employees of the Hernando County School District and their eligible dependents.

Additional Benefits

Other benefits are offered at your cost for short/long term disability insurance, medical and/or child care reimbursement, cancer insurance, intensive care etc.
