Spring Hill - As the 2023-24 school years draws to a close, the superintendent announces the following school administrative changes for Spring Hill Elementary, Winding Waters K-8, J.D. Floyd Elementary, Westside Elementary, Chocachatti Elementary and Suncoast Elementary schools.

Both Floyd Elementary Principal Joyce Lewis and Chocachatti Elementary Principal Lara Silva have announced their retirement, effective this month.

“I came back to Floyd as Principal 8 years ago and it has been an amazing 8 years,” Lewis wrote to Floyd families. “But after 30 years I have decided it is time to retire. With 24 of my 30 years spent here at Floyd, it is very bittersweet to leave my family, my home away from home!” Current Suncoast Elementary Principal Scott Piesik will take the helm at FES, effective July 1.

Westside Elementary will open interviews for their new principal following the announcement that Principal Kristina Stratton will leave to take an administrative position in Pinellas County.

Current Spring Hill Elementary Principal Kristen Tormey and Winding Waters K8 Principal Cari O’Rourke will switch posts, effective July 1. Tormey will become WWK8 principal and O’Rourke will be the Panthers’ new principal. Each principal notified their parents of the move.

“I am so proud to have been part of Spring Hill Elementary’s story and while I look forward to this new opportunity, I leave with only the very best memories or our time together,” said Tormey. Ms. O’Rourke expressed her gratitude in her letter to SHES staff and families, writing, "Serving as part of the Winding Waters community has been a privilege, and I am grateful for the experiences and memories we have shared together.”

Positions for principals have been posted for Chocachatti, Suncoast and Westside elementary schools, and a committee has been formed to conduct interviews soon.
