Brooksville - Last night, Hernando County School District celebrated their 25th annual Art Gallery Recognition Night held at Central High School. The event featured more than 100 pieces of original artwork created by students of all ages throughout the school district. Having outgrown capacity at the school boardroom, the annual exhibit of work was moved to Central, giving event coordinators the opportunity to include musical entertainment and separate award ceremonies. At last night’s event, the CHS cafeteria was transformed into an art gallery, and included music by the Powell Middle School Band with refreshments courtesy of HCSD Food & Nutrition. Central’s NJROTC opened the event with the presentation of colors and saxophonist Dell Barnes provided music.
The Art Gallery Recognition event is divided into two ceremonies - one for K-5 students and a second for those in 6-12. After a gallery walk to allow artists, parents and staff time to view the many incredible works of art, all guests convened in the school’s theater for award presentations. “The most difficult part of the event is choosing from so many truly inspired works of art, “ said Assistant Superintendent Gina Michalicka. “Our art teachers find creative ways to draw out the very best from their students, and these artists do not disappoint.”
We are delighted to announce the following students won top awards: Elementary winners include:
