After careful review of instructional minutes reflected in the 2023-24 school year, it has been determined that Hernando Schools will not be required to make up the 3 days lost due to Hurricane Idalia. Hernando schools and offices closed on August 28th to prepare and manage multiple schools as storm shelters. All schools and offices reopened on August 31st.
While there are sufficient instructional minutes remaining in the school calendar to offset those 3 storm days, any further school closures will likely result in the school district authorizing makeups days for students and staff. The 2023-24 school calendar designates Hurricane Makeup Days as November 20-21, during the week of Thanksgiving, and March 20th and 25th.
