SCHOOL BOARD WILL REQUIRE FACE COVERINGS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY
Brooksville - At the July 28th school board meeting, the Hernando School Board voted unanimously to approve, by emergency rule, the requirement for all students, staff and visitors to wear face coverings while on school district property. As all schools in Hernando prepare to open on August 31st, the addition of face coverings is intended to help mitigate transmission of COVID -19.
The school district has developed a guide for families that defines the scope of the requirement and explains exceptions and medical exemptions. A portion of the guide will accompany this release.
“Since early May, district leaders and members of the school board have been listening to the outpouring of messages from concerned parents and students about feeling safe when they return to school. Face coverings are one of the safeguards that provide an additional measure of care for our students and staff. Along with social distancing, new cleaning protocols and classroom routines, face coverings will bolster the overall safety and protection of our schools,” Superintendent John Stratton said.
