Tardy Policy & Procedures
2023 - 2024 Tardy Policy:
-
Students who are not inside the classroom door by the time the final bell rings are considered absent. If a student arrives to class within 10 minutes after the final bell, teachers should document it in Skyward by marking them tardy.
-
Teachers documenting in Skyward by marking them Tardy = (V unexcused tardy) creates a monitored tracking report that is printed daily.
-
Parents will receive a call from the school's automated calling system on all students marked unexcused tardy.
-
Students who miss more than 10 minutes of the class period will be marked unexcused absence for that period.
-
Students who acquire multiple unexcused tardies in one semester will follow the steps described below:
[TR] Tardies: Each school will have a uniform agreement on what is defined as "tardy to class." See above; Violations one (1) to five (5) are Level I offenses. Each school may develop its own procedures and consequences for tardy six (6) and beyond as long as it has been approved by their School Advisory Council and submitted to the Superintendent.
-
Tardies 1 - 3: Teacher/Student conference and parent phone call.
-
4th and 5th tardy per period: Discipline referral written by teacher with lunch detention assigned by administrator.
-
6th tardy per period: Discipline referral written by teacher and (1) day of ISS.
-
7th tardy per period: Discipline referral written by teacher and (2) days of ISS.
-
