Program Description

The course is multi-tiered and students entering this program will develop the knowledge and skills, both basic and intermediary, for employment in the diesel mechanic industry. Performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. 

Program Structure

  • Diesel Engine Mechanic/Technician Helper - 150 Hours
  • Diesel Electrical and Electronics Technician - 300 Hours
  • Diesel Engine Techician - 300 Hours
  • Diesel Brakes Technician - 300 Hours

Program Requirements

The State of Florida requires students to meet the basic skill level requirement prior to program completion. The basic skills grade levels for this program are: Math: 9, Communications: 9.
Suggested uniform: Work pants or shorts without chains or buttons (no cutoffs), shop top, oil and slipresistant work shoes (closed toe), CLEAR safety glasses.

Completion Requirements

A student must have passed all required courses in the program and satisfied all financial obligations before he or she is eligible to receive a certificate of completion for the program.

In State Tuition: $2.44 per program hour (1,050 Hours)
Out of State Tuition: $9.32 per program hour (1,050 Hours)
