MISSION STATEMENT & PURPOSE
The National Beta Club is a student-centered organization that continually develops and nurtures individuals by providing opportunities and experiences which enable them to demonstrate the ideals of character, achievement, service and leadership in a global community.
The purpose of the National Beta Club shall be to promote the ideals of character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students, to reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.
THE JUNIOR BETA PLEDGE
I hereby declare
That I shall always strive
To be honest and truthful at all times:
To maintain a creditable scholastic record;
To be of service to my teachers and fellow persons;
To conduct myself in an ethical and moral manner;
To reflect credit upon my school and cmmunity.
CRITERIA FOR ADMITTANCE
- 3.2 Cumulative: GPA grade point average (GPA)
- Ten to twelve hours of community service during the time period spanning the end of fifth grade through the end of sixth grade and four to six hours of community service during the time period spanning the end of sixth grade through the first two quarters of the student's seventh grade year
- Participation in one or more co-curricular activities during the student's sixth grade year and participation in one or more co-curricular activities during the student's seventh grade year
- Communication of the student's leadership qualities, strong character, and commitment to Beta Club ideals through two insightful essays
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does my child apply for admittance to Beta Club?
Students are selected for potential membership based on the initial criteria of grade point average.
What are the specific co-curricular requirements?
In order for the activity to be considered for Beta Club membership, the activity must be school sponsored. Participation in band, orchestra, choir or other credited classes will not be considered as a co-curricular activity.
The following activities are examples of acceptable co-curricular activities:
- school sports teams
- Destination Imagination
- school clubs
- Harmon leadership team
- school plays, etc.
The following activities do NOT meet the criteria for acceptable co-curricular activities for Beta Club membership:
- Boy and Girl Scouts
- private or recreational sports teams
- church youth organizations
- band
- dance teams, etc.
