A message for the families coming to Winding Waters K-8:
It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to our new school. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to be your building principal as we set out to create the best learning environment available in our district.
Our school has been designed to provide the students with a technology rich learning environment. Every classroom will be outfitted with the latest instructional technology tools allowing students to be actively engaged in their own learning. More importantly, our school is staffed with teachers who are dedicated to delivering a rigorous curriculum infusing the use of this technology to make the learning process meaningful for all students.
I look forward to working with you as we build our school culture of high expectations. Together, with your support, our school will become a leader in the district in providing quality education. I am sure you agree - our students deserve no less.
Sincerely,
Dave Dannemiller, Principal

School Dress Code
Winding Waters is not a school uniform school. We will have the following dress code in effect for the 2011-12 school year. Please use this information as you shop through the summer for school clothes.
Appropriateness is essential for effective learning and student success. The Dress Code will be enforced before, during, after, and at all school sanctioned activities. Inappropriate clothing and appearance are disruptive to the school program.
- Hoods, kerchiefs, headbands (of any type), bandanas, or do-rags are not to be worn, carried, or displayed. Hats and sunglasses may be worn; however, they must be worn in the manner in which they were designed. Hats worn sideways or backwards are not acceptable. Hats, sunglasses, or other sun protective items may never be worn inside buildings.
- All shirts/blouses/tops must be long enough to remain tucked in at all times with no skin visible. Blouses and shirts that are low cut and/or revealing are not acceptable. Spaghetti straps, tank tops, tube tops, and all other low cut/revealing shirts, i.e., halters, strapless, high midriff tops are not permitted.
- Pants must be worn so that the waist band is worn at the waist and not below the waist. Any jeans, shorts, or pants that have HOLES/RIPS or are FRAYED above the halfway point of the distance from the hip to the knee will not be allowed. Students who wear tights under jeans, shorts, or pants that have holes /rips/ or frays above the halfway point will be in violation of the school dress code. Spandex-style” bicycle” shorts, short shorts, running shorts, and boxer shorts, exposed underwear, short skirts, short dresses, pajamas, and other bedroom attire (including bedroom slippers) are not permitted.
- To determine appropriate length: Shorts—while student is sitting, the distance from the hip to the knee will be measured and any point above half way to the distance is too short. Skirts/Dresses—no shorter than three inches from knee to the hem.
- Any apparel, jewelry, tattoo or marking, accessory, or manner of grooming by virtue of its color, arrangement, trademark, other attribute that denotes membership in a gang, advocates drugs, tobacco products, alcohol, violence, sexual innuendo, or has caused disruption, i.e., Confederate Flag are prohibited.
- Jackets and sweater worn to “cover up” inappropriate clothing is not acceptable.
- Blankets are not to be worn or carried
- At school, the principal has final authority to determine whether dress is appropriate or deemed disruptive to the learning environment
